Happy Due Date, Tyson!

Today was Tyson's due date. The little guy is now 97 days old, but his corrected age (the age a preemie would be if he/she had been born on his/her due date) is 1 day old -- he's a newborn!

Mom and dad went down to celebrate with the little guy:

Mom treated him to a celebratory meal, followed by a requisite post-feed burping session:

Happy Due Date, Tyson! We love you!

Milestone Moment: On The Road

We had a strange request from Tyson: he asked us to bring in a backpack today. We wanted to humour the little guy, so dad bought a Tyson-sized bag, and mom brought it in to help him pack for whatever adventure he had in mind.

He packed some essentials, such as his favourite gumdrop pacifier, a pair of ducky newborn socks from Auntie Jan, his "Snuggle Puppy" book from Amy and Dana, and a diaper for good measure.

So where are you going, Tyson?

(Drumroll, please...)

To the Level II Nursery!

After 90 days in the NICU, Tyson graduated to Level II and set foot outside of the NICU for the very first time in his life. He's never been anywhere else (except for mom's womb), so he was very excited and spent most of the day alert in anticipation.

We're very excited for Tyson as well, and hope he continues to do well. Thanks to everyone who visited him in the NICU; we look forward to your visits in Level II also!

Caffeine Buzz

Who's the biggest caffeine addict in the Wong family?

.

.

Answer:

Well, it was baby Wong... but as of Thursday, he's off his caffeine supplement!

Caffeine is used to help treat AOP (Apnea of Prematurity), and the little guy was getting a daily buzz to help him along. Let's hope he doesn't get withdrawal jitters ;)

Hey, where's my coffee!

Milestone Moment

Another milestone for Tyson: the little guy did more than 12 hours of low-flow oxygen today. This is quite the accomplishment for him; last time he tried, he could only last 25 minutes, and he had two apnea spells during those 25 minutes. If all goes well, then he will stay on low-flow -- and that means he's one step closer to coming home :)

Mommy thinks I'm getting big (especially when you compare this photo with the previously posted cuddle time photos):

Hey, dad?

How come you're so tall and I'm so small?

Let's discuss after my soother time... (yummmm, soother!)

The Latest Weigh In

Our baby boy is getting big. Tonight, he weighed in at 2795g / 6lbs 3oz (that's 11 butter sticks, for those of you that are keeping track). Modesty once again provided by PhotoShop.

Tyson's pretty happy with his weight gain, too!

Tyson's due date of September 30th is coming up. How much do you think he'll weigh on that date? The baby pool is open! Vote for your answer -- use the poll on the right. Guess correctly and the lucky winner(s) get to change the little guy's diapers :)

Milestone Moment

By 11:00am today, Tyson did more than 24 hours off of CPAP, using high-flow oxygen instead. We're so proud of the little guy! We're hoping and praying that he won't ever have to use CPAP again.

So long CPAP!

What Is It?

Silver, round, and found in the kitchen. Usually used to mix items together for food preparation or to serve chips or salad.

Also used in hospitals as Tyson's bath tub! (Modesty provided by PhotoShop)

Foot Fetish, Part II

Photos of Tyson's feet taken by daddy on September 7. Tyson's feet are now the length of mom's thumb (~2 inches).

Cuddle Time Moments

One of our favourite things to do is kangaroo care or cuddle with the little guy.
