Happy Nine Months / Six Months

Tyson turned nine months on March 26th, and six months corrected on March 30th. Our little guy brings us so much joy, and is constantly smiling and laughing and learning new tricks. Here are some recent photos from the past month.

Who's that good looking baby?

Whoo, it's chilly!

I'm daddy's mini-me:

Prunes

On March 26th, Tyson tried prunes for the first time. What better way is there to celebrate turning nine months old then by trying prunes? :P

Hey Tyson, what do you think of prunes?

Tyson?

Tyson?

Pretty good!

What's Up, Doc?

Another recently added item to Tyson's menu is carrots--his now favourite food by far!

March Birthdays

There were a lot of birthdays to celebrate in March... we kickstarted the month with Uncle Will and Mah-Mah's birthday, soon followed by a little get-together to celebrate Auntie Lydia's b-day. Then we celebrated Kai-Yea's birthday, and closed off March with Poh-Poh's birthday.

I got to hang out with PJ again:

Too late, we fell asleep!

Looking forward to playing with my cousins (and eating birthday cake!):

Happy birthday, March babies!

Welcome Spring & Happy Easter

Our spring chicken makes a return visit in celebration of Easter and to welcome the warmer weather:

Notice how he finally fits the costume... so much so, that his head is now too big for the headpiece:

Oh, the things I do to amuse you people!

Prematurity Awareness Day

Today, MPP Frank Klees will be delivering a statement of address to the House of Commons to declare March 19th as Prematurity Awareness Day in Canada.

Prematurity is increasingly on the rise in North America. According to the Linden Fund, approximately 12% of babies born are preterm in Canada. Of that 12%:
  • 84% are born between 32-36 weeks of gestation;

  • 10% are born between 28-31 weeks; and

  • 6% are born earlier than 28 weeks (that's where Tyson fits in).
According to the March of Dimes, "Prematurity is the leading killer of America's newborns. Those who survive often have lifelong health problems, including cerebral palsy, mental retardation, chronic lung disease, blindness and hearing loss. Prematurity has been escalating steadily and alarmingly over the past two decades. In 2005, more than 525,000 infants were born prematurely, the highest number ever reported for the U.S... Preterm delivery can happen to any pregnant woman. In about four out of every 10 cases, the causes are unknown."
